Welcome to the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences at University of the Pacific. Ours is an innovative, interdisciplinary, dynamic department that is engaged in understanding and promoting physical activity. Our goal is to examine how physical activity and sport contribute to the quality of life. We do this from a wide range of perspectives, including biology, physiology, psychology, sociology and philosophy, so our graduates are able to conceptualize and analyze human movement in a holistic manner.

A Slam Dunk Success
Our students know what it means to be an athlete-scholar. Health & Exercise Science student Tony Gill was profiled in 2014 by the West Coast Conference for his dual success in intercollegiate basketball and his academic success and dreams.
Liberal Arts Context
The Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences Department offers a progressive, dynamic, cross-disciplinary curriculum in the liberal arts tradition. Our purpose is to educate and prepare students for a wide variety of careers in the field broadly defined as sport. The Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences Department offers the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with a choice of three concentrations, as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Arts track.
