Welcome to the Department of Psychology at University of the Pacific. Our field is a broad discipline with many areas of specialization. Majors are exposed to several fascinating areas of study, including behavioral, biological, clinical, cognitive, developmental and social psychology.
Students may study topics such as parenting; obesity and physical activity; social and emotional development in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers; smoking, alcohol and drug use; sustainability; the use of unreliable expert testimony in courts and beliefs about memory and how this affects jury deliberation.
We encourage students to master psychological principles in a variety of subfields of psychology, as well as apply the material to life situations.
Complementary Undergraduate and Graduate Programs
The Psychology Department offers a B.A. degree program focused on the understanding of behavior, cognition and emotion. We also offer an M.A. program for students who are interested in behavior analysis or in preparing for entry into a behaviorally focused clinical psychology doctoral program. Our course sequence and supervised experience are approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)®.
The undergraduate and graduate programs are interlinked so that each program is supported and enhanced by the other.
