Jazz Studies Auditions

The Jazz Studies program is limited to 20 students. All prospective students must complete the admission process to the University of the Pacific and two performance auditions:

  1. A standard "classical" audition which admits a student to the Conservatory as a degree-seeking student.  See Audition Requirements.
  2. A "jazz" audition which admits a student to the jazz studies program.  The jazz audition requirements include the following:
  • a medium-tempo blues
  • an up-tempo rhythm changes tune
  • a Latin, rock or funk tune
  • a ballad

Live auditions are recommended.  However, if an applicant is unable to audition on campus, high quality recordings will be accepted.
