Lawrence Pintak, Author of Reflections in a Bloodshot Lens: America, Islam & the War of Ideas will talk about perceptions of America in the Middle East as well as the “cartoon” issue globally.

Phil Bronstein, Editor of the San Francisco Chronicle will speak about the role of the media in an Internet era as well as the challenges associated with international coverage.

Sakena Yacoobbi , Pacific ('77) founded the Afghan Institute for Learning, which operates 18 learning centers and four health clinics in Afghanistan and Pakistan, serving more then 350,000 people annually with a staff of 480 women. For her work with AIL, Yacoobi was awarded the 2004 Women's Rights Prize from the Peter Gruber Foundation. She is vice president of Creating Hope International and visits the U.S. frequently.
